Kariuki is a geospatial software developer based in Nairobi Kenya, with a rich experience in GIS & backend development.

Kariuki designs beautiful desktop user interfaces and maps.

Having a background in geospatial engineering and over seven years of experience working with geospatial software, Kariuki has a demonstrated skill working with both open source and enterprise GIS technologies.

He is passionate about software development and seeks approaches through which his self-taught skills in programming can be utilized in crafting top-notch client solutions that offer tailor-made solutions addressing current and future real-world problems.

LAND INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICAL EXPERT

- Technical support and capacity development roles to the Computer-Based Flexible Land Tenure System (CB-FLTS) country project.

2019-2020

SENIOR PYTHON DEVELOPER

- Customization of Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM), a pro-poor recordation land information system into Computer-Based Flexible Land Tenure System (CB-FLTS) for support of Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Land Reform (MAWLR) in Namibia.
- Designing UML activity diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, and modeling of these into CB-FLTS.
- Developing system documentation, and training of system end-users and administrators.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

- Design and development of customized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) based on open-source software such as QGIS, GeoServer, and PostGIS with the goal of creating, reading, sharing/publishing, and updating geospatial data.
- Deployment of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) in addressing the challenges encountered in sharing geospatial (location-based) data within organizations and externally while adopting and maintaining GIS data standards.
